The second is a Permanent Engineered HLL AVD, a swage tester supplied with an 8mm cable test frame, which proof tests the cable termination fittings on permanent engineered horizontal lifeline systems.
Testing is performed with calibrated Veri5000 anchorage verification equipment with a verified range of 0 to 30 kN, 6,744 lbf. Each anchor is proof loaded to the value specified by the anchor manufacturer, or by the qualified person who designed the system, and held for the specified duration.

What is an anchor pull test?
An anchor pull test applies a measured proof load to an installed fall protection anchor to confirm it holds. A qualified fall protection specialist rigs a calibrated load device to the anchor, pulls to the load specified by the anchor manufacturer or by the qualified person who designed the system, holds it for the specified duration, and records the result. It verifies the anchor as actually installed, in the actual substrate, rather than relying on the strength the anchor was rated for in a lab.
Does OSHA require anchor pull testing?
OSHA does not name pull testing as a standalone requirement. Under 29 CFR 1926.502(d)(15) for construction and 29 CFR 1910.140(c)(13) for general industry, an anchorage used for personal fall arrest must either support at least 5,000 pounds per attached employee, or be designed, installed, and used as part of a complete system with a safety factor of at least two under the supervision of a qualified person. Separately from that, most anchor manufacturers require their anchors to be proof tested after installation, to the load stated in their own instructions.

We proof test the swage connections on permanent engineered horizontal lifeline systems. Our second Veri5000 unit is a Permanent Engineered HLL AVD, a swage tester supplied with an 8mm cable test frame, and it verifies the cable termination fitting. It does not test the end anchorage the cable is bolted to. Those are two different components and two different tests, so tell us which one you need.
How long does anchor pull testing take?
It depends far more on access than on the number of anchors. Rigging the test equipment to each anchor is the slow part, and a roof anchor reached by ladder takes longer than a row of anchors on an open deck. Send us your anchor count and locations and we will scope the visit before you commit.
What documentation do we receive?
A written proof-test report covering each anchor tested: its location and identifier, the anchor type, the load applied, the hold time, the pass or fail result, and the date and the specialist who performed the test. It is written to drop straight into your fall protection program file for an ADOSH or OSHA inspection.
How often do anchors need to be re-tested?
Follow the anchor manufacturer's stated interval, which is commonly annual for permanently installed anchors. Re-testing is also called for after any fall arrest event, after structural work or a re-roof that disturbs the substrate, and whenever an inspection finds corrosion or damage at the anchor point.
Do you travel outside Phoenix for anchor testing?
